PRE TREATMENT CARE:

  • For any of these types of treatment you should avoid any form of tanning 4-6 weeks before treatment. This includes spray tans, solariums and sun tans. Also avoid waxing, plucking, depilatory creams and electrolysis at lease 4-6 weeks before your appointment. We request you shave the area being treated 1-3 days before your IPL appointment.
  • pre treatment ensure to exfoliate and moisturise the area being treated this will help to remove the hair more efficiently and allow a healthy hydrated skin that will allow heat to escape quicker and less irritation from dry scaly skin.

POST TREATMENT CARE:

  • The area may be slightly red from a few hours upto 48 hours depending on you skin type.
  • For the first 48 hours, avoid the sun, exfoliation and tight clothing as these can irritate the area. Do not wax of tweeze your hair between procedures as this encourages growth and strength. We recommend shaving the area. You may find you require only 6-8 visits, or you may require 8-12 visits over a 6-12 month period, depending on your skin type, hair type and previous ipl / laser hair removal history.
  • post treatment day 3-5 after your treatment it is recommended that exfoliate to help remove the dead hairs from the follicles and keep this up weekly to maintain hydrated skin to make for a better treatment on your next appointments.
  • hair grows in cycles anyone person can up many hair cycles this is why when you wax today but tomorrow you feel prickles this is another cycle of growth, when keeping sessions at a 4 week interval this helps to capture all the cycles and help to bring them together , to help each treatment become more effective in the permanent hair reduction, if you miss treatments and push the treatments out to far the hair removal will much less effective.
  • using after care products like Skinstitut”s Laser Aid Available in salon $45 is a crucial part of your treatment this helps to remove heat from the skin and reduce reactions and irritations, also helps to rehydrate the treated area

FAQ

What is IPL Hair Reduction and how does it work?

Intense Pulsed Light is attracted to the dark pigment in your hair follicles. The light heats the follicle to a high temperature, causing the blood supply to the follicle to cease, thus preventing future hair growth.

What is the difference between Laser and IPL?

While both reduce hair growth, the difference is the type of light used. Laser is a focused light and reaches a specified depth. IPL is able to target multiple levels where hair follicles may be present. IPL is a broad spectrum light that covers a larger area of hair in a shorter time and as a bonus, has rejuvenating properties for your skin.

Will the treatment work on me?

Book a free consultation to determine if you are suitable for IPL. Results will vary from person to person, and it is important to recognise that not everybody is suitable. For example: IPL will not work on blonde, grey or red hair. It is also not suitable for dark skin complexions. But come in and talk to us. We will answer any questions you may have and assess whether this treatment is appropriate for you.

Is IPL Hair Reduction permanent?

The treatment will permanently reduce all suitable hair in the target area over a course of treatments at intervals recommended by your Therapist. Some hormonal changes and medications can activate previously dormant hair follicles to begin producing a small amount of hair. This hair can be easily treated with maintenance sessions as recommended by your Therapist.
